Former scholars of St Anne’s Primary School marched through Suva yesterday morning, marking the 120th anniversary of the institution.
The school’s alumni organised a week-long event to honour the school’s history, which included dance items by current students, a formal ball, and a church service, which will take place today.
School head teacher Miliana Caginavanua said the event united alumni, students and parents, fostering a sense of unity and sisterhood.
“I’d like to thank the old scholars for coming on board with all their expertise and they have said they would continue to help us through the years,” Ms Caginavanua said.
“They have pledged ongoing support and offered their expertise in various areas, including financial contributions, administrative support as well as volunteering their time and skills.”
Alumni from various decades have contributed resources, including two laptops for teachers, curtains for the school library, solar lights and books to the school.
Ms Caginavanua said preparations for the celebrations were integrated into the school’s curriculum, ensuring that all syllables were covered before the event.
She added the community’s involvement and support have been crucial in the success of the celebration and future school projects.
