The Vodafone Sugar Festival was officially opened in Lautoka on Saturday night with a focus on unity and compassion.
Speaking at the event, Vodafone Fiji’s senior business relationship manager Prashant Prasad highlighted the festival’s theme, “Charity for the Needy,” and the significance of community-driven support for those in need.
He mentioned Vodafone’s long-standing commitment to giving back, calling it not only a responsibility but a privilege.
Mr Prasad also applauded the efforts of organisers, volunteers, and the local community for coming together to make the festival possible, stressing that their dedication and hard work reflected the spirit of generosity that the event stood for.
“Vodafone Fiji is honoured to sponsor the Sugar Festival once again and be part of a community that values generosity and kindness,” Mr Prasad said.
“At Vodafone, we believe that giving back is not just a responsibility, but a privilege.
“We are committed to making a positive difference in the lives of those who need it most.
“Today, we celebrate the spirit of giving and the strength of our community.
“This festival is more than just an event; it is a movement. A movement that reminds us that we all have a role to play in supporting those who are struggling. Whether it is through donations, volunteering or simply spreading awareness, every action counts.”
Mr Prasad acknowledged the presence of local leaders, businesses, and non-profits, noting their essential role in fostering collaboration and making a lasting impact in the community.
The week-long festival where six contestants were vying for the crown will culminate on Saturday.
