Air Terminal Services Employees Trust (ATSET), which represents about 300 union workers at Air Terminal Services (ATS), has made a historic $2million dividend payment to its members, with the majority of them receiving $12,000 each.
The workers are members of the ATSET that owns 49 per cent of ATS. Government owns the remaining 51 per cent.
“This remarkable achievement reflects the continued success and growth of the trust, which represents the workers of Air Terminal Services (Fiji) Pte Ltd in Fiji,” said ATSET national secretary Rimal Kumar.
He said the unique ownership model had allowed workers at ATS to actively participate in key decision-making processes, from recruitment to the appointment of board of directors.
“It is a testament to the value of employee ownership and worker participation concept with ATS employees, not only working for the company but also sharing in its profits.
“This inclusive model of governance has contributed significantly to the improvement and success of the business.”
The beneficiaries of the $2million dividend are all unionised ATS workers.
“As ATS continues to grow and prosper, the trust looks forward to further enhancing the lives of its beneficiaries and contributing to the overall success of the company and the economy of Fiji.”
