Republic of the Fiji Military Forces Commander Major-General Ro Jone Kalouniwai has been commended for his efforts to right the wrongs of the military’s past by two political heavyweights — former prime minister Mahendra Chaudhry and Unity Fiji party leader Savenaca Narube.

Mr Chaudhry said while he respected Maj-Gen Kalouniwai’s efforts to reconcile with those the military hurt, it would take a great amount of effort to make amends with those affected, especially Fijians of Indian descent.

Mr Narube said political stability could only be restored if Fiji defined the role of the military.
