Flick Hygiene Suva FC played to a 2-2 draw against Navua in round 15 of the Digicel Premier League at Uprising Sports Centre in Navua.

The game saw both teams displaying a strong attacking presence in the first half, with Navua taking the lead through an own goal from Suva’s Waisake Navunigasau.

However, Suva quickly responded with Gacame Peni’s impressive brace, giving them a 2-1 lead at halftime.

Navua fought back in the second half, with Simione Damuni scoring in the 50th minute to level the score and seal a draw at full time.

Suva’s head coach, Babz Khan, acknowledged the absence of their national team goalkeeper but praised the team for their performance despite challenging ground conditions, which favored passing play leading to their first-half goals.

Khan also lauded Navua as tough opponents and expressed satisfaction in holding them to a draw.

“The match was great we missing our goal keeper who is in the national team but that did not stop us for the performance today,” said Khan.

“The boys played well, the ground condition did not suite us. It was wet and not good but we managed to play the pass game and that gave us the two goals in the first half.

With a two-week break ahead, Suva plans to address areas of improvement, particularly in finishing, to return stronger for the remainder of the league season.

Requiring four more points to secure their position outside of the promotion-relegation zone, Suva remains committed to their development and the hard work needed to achieve their goals.
