With upcoming conferences, carnivals and the school holidays, police have reminded those involved in drug trade that they would be taken to task.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu said drug operations have been heightened in anticipation of increased movement of people for the school holidays, festivals, meetings and conferences.

“We are also raiding farms and have made some recent discoveries in Kadavu as well as the arrests for unlawful possession of illicit drugs.

“We are encouraging members of the public to share information either through 917 or Crime Stoppers on 919 to help reduce the harm of illicit drugs.”

Police said its K9 capabilities are supported by the New Zealand Police under the Fiji Police Partnership Programme, adding value to the Fiji Police’s Dog Patrol capabilities in partnership with the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service.
