A new winner will be crowned in the under-14 grade of the Fiji Secondary Schools Vodafone Super Deans competition.

This is after Ratu Kadavulevu School booted out defending champions Marist Brothers High School 13-0 in their semi-final match at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.

Both teams showed their intentions to win from the onset but it was the Tailevu-based school that was able to convert their chances into points leading 5-0 after a bruising first half.

It was anybody’s game in the second spell with the scoreline still well within reach and it was RKS again that dominated with a try and a successful penalty to bag the win.

Team manageress Eta Waqasaqa Vakalutugone said the win is dedicated to their U18 and 19 teams that fell short in the quarter-finals.

“In RKS, the U18 is a very special team but they fell short in the quarter-finals and we just want to dedicate this to them and to out U19.

“In RKS we call our U19 as ‘timi ulumatua’ so this win is also for them,” she said.

The team credited their success to the support of the school administration, old scholars and especially to the parents who have been there since day one.

RKS returns to Suva next week for the grand-final and a shot at the title.
