Accessible and affordable mental health resources is vital in the fight against domestic violence and drug abuse in Fiji.
For 23-year-old Esiteri Salele, witnessing many social issues in her community impelled her to join the 2024 Nasinu Town Festival as a queen contestant.
Proudly sponsored by Pacific Fishing Company Pte Ltd (PAFCO), Ms Salele is one of seven women vying for the crown during the week-long event.
“Strengthening mental health support and spiritual awakening that can improve overall well-being, reduce stress, and foster healthier family dynamics,” the Somosomo, Taveuni villager said.
“Providing counselling, education, and support services would help families navigate challenges and build resilience together.”
She will be also advocating on the importance of family values to combat unemployment, school dropouts, drug abuse, cyberbullying, and domestic violence in families and communities.
The festival is expected to begin from August 17 to August 24 at the Valelevu grounds.
