Four players from Lami High School’s under-19 side have defied the odds by being selected to join the prestigious Swire Shipping Fijian Drua Academy, proving that hard work truly leads to success.
This momentous achievement was met with overwhelming emotions as the boys received the news from Drua management, also the teams trainer and supporter Sireli Bobo.
Coming from a small school, this opportunity showcases the rewards of dedication and perseverance.
Ro Mocelutu Macanawai, Inia Colatanavanua, Vilimoni Raivasi, and Isoa Laulaba are the talented individuals who have been chosen to be part of the Drua Academy.
Team manager Adilina Motea expressed immense pride in their accomplishment, emphasising the impact it has on both the school and the boys themselves. The primary focus remains on the well-being and future prospects of the students, whether in the realm of sports or education.
“It is a big achievement for us, we are happy that what we are doing is worth it and a great help for our boys,” said Motea. “We are doing it for the student’s benefit, second will be the fame, our main aim is too get this kids out and be somewhere in life, either its sports or education.
Recognising rugby as a significant avenue for success, the school acknowledges the doors it can open for young athletes to secure lucrative contracts overseas.
“We know that rugby is the major source of income, and it helps a lot of young boys in future getting contracts overseas.
The inclusion of these four players in the Drua Academy is a major milestone for Lami High School and a testament to the potential hidden within the students.”
The Deans semi-finals competition will be held at the HFC Bank Stadium and Bidesi Park on Saturday.
