CREATING a legacy in the world of boxing, 21-year-old Alifereti Dodomo made history with his impressive victory over Brent Moore in a decisive knockout punch just 19 seconds into the first round at Dwyer’s Boxing Promotion in Australia.
Hailing from Fiji, Dodomo made the bold move to train in Australia at the age of 19, a decision that has proven to be fruitful as he clinched the Australian National Boxing Federation New South Wales light heavyweight title last year.
Dodomo expressed his gratitude and joy for the victory, which he attributed to his resilience, determination, and belief in himself.
“My journey to this moment has been one of resilience, determination, and unwavering faith in my abilities, to deliver that decisive knockout punch in the first round, just 19 seconds in, against Ben Moore a formidable opponent was not just a triumph in the ring, but a testament to the game plan and the relentless effort behind it,” said Dodomo.
“When I entered this fight, I was seen as an underdog, many doubted my capability to rise to the occasion, especially given the importance of this match for my ranking and career.
“Coming from Fiji, where opportunities for professional boxing were scarce, the chance to showcase my talent here in Australia was a lifeline an opportunity brimming with potential and promise.
Dodomo faced many challenges in Fiji to kickstart his boxing career, but Australia provided him with the platform to shine.
“In Fiji, I faced countless challenges just to begin my professional career, the road was tough, and the path to recognition was steep.
“However, Australia embraced me with open arms, offering a platform to prove myself and elevate my standing in the world of boxing. For that, I am profoundly grateful.”
“I owe a debt of gratitude to many who have supported me on this journey, to my Australian parents, the Devlin’s, who have shown me love and unwavering faith from day one.”
Dodomo is eager to face more challenges, take on tougher opponents, and continue to improve as a fighter. He is determined to make the most of the opportunities that Australia has offered him.
