The biggest music competition in the Pacific, the Pacific Break 2024 Launch Concert, was staged at the Beach Club Wailoaloa in Nadi at the weekend.

The concert featured performances from some of the best Pacific artists, including past Pacific Break winners – 2023 winner Ju Ben (Fiji), 2022 winner Danielle (PNG) and 2019 winner Sprigga Mek (PNG) – alongside Bibao and Lonna from the Solomon Islands and Oni and Ratu from Fiji.

The event, hosted by ABC Radio Australia, opened its doors at 4.30pm with tickets priced at $15.

The proceeds will go to the Frank Hilton Organisation.

Peni Roqara, also known as Ju Ben and who won last year’s Pacific Break competition, said it was amazing to be part of the competition.

“This is the first of its kind and being a part of it is overwhelming,” he said.

Ju Ben said he was honoured and humbled to be performing alongside some amazing artists from the Pacific Islands.

Mereoni ‘Oni’ Ramacake, a 2023 Pacific Break finalist, said it was good to perform alongside some renowned artists.

“This is a really good platform for aspiring artists and the concert is going to be a vibe,” she said.
