IN order to meet the growing flight catering demand, work on a multi-million dollar modern catering facility by the Air Terminal Services (ATS) would commerce later this year.
This was revealed by ATS chief executive officer Alan Suchin in Nadi on Thursday.
“We have purchased a land close to our facility here and we want to develop a new flight catering centre,” he said.
Mr Suchin said the demand for catering services was exceeding their expectations, with the existing facility unable to cope with it.
“We want to develop a modern facility and one of its features we want to see is less human intervention in the processing of meats” Mr Suchin said.
“We want to replicate what is being done in international markets.”
He said they had already begun with the initial works in regards to the project.
“We anticipate the project to be around $40 to $50 million.”
ATS Board chairperson Shradha Sharma said the project would start from later this year.
