Police investigators are still working on identifying a man who was found floating in the Rewa River yesterday morning.

The body was discovered by a construction worker who said that there were visible cuts and injuries on the victim’s face.

Nacanieli Naviri was working with three other individuals at Vunimono Islamia School, a primary school situated along the Rewa River when he saw a lifeless body floating in the water.

Speaking to The Fiji Times, he said the sighting was made just after 8am and after alerting his workmates, the group had to follow the body downstream as the tide was high and they did not have access to a boat.

He said they finally found a wooden raft tied by the side of the river and used it to retrieve the body from the water.

Nearby resident Eparama Nainoka said residents were pretty shaken up by what they saw yesterday morning.
