A new nature park was recently open in Lutu Village in Naitasiri.
Dubbed the Savumoli Streams Bubble and Forest Walk, the new attraction is an initiative of the villagers and the Ministry of Forestry.
The ministry explained that the Lutu community-based forest park is part of Fiji’s plan to protect the environment, support sustainable development, and fight climate change. This project helps the government improve the lives of local people, protect natural resources, and boost the economy.
“This park is the first of many we plan to create, managed together with local communities,” said Minister for Fisheries and Forestry Kalaveti Ravu while opening the new park.
“A key goal of the Ministry of Forestry is to protect natural resources and promote eco-tourism.
“The Lutu community-based forest park serves as a model for earning money while teaching people about the importance of nature.
“We are committed to reducing carbon emissions and fighting climate change.”
The forest park is not only valuable for the environment but also serves as a learning space for communities, schoolchildren, and visitors to learn about nature.
