TOKYO Olympic Games Men’s Rugby Sevens gold medal winner Iosefo Masi has opted to join the national 7s side for the Paris Olympics this year.

Fiji Airways Fiji men’s team manager Willie Baleinabuli has confirmed that Masi had his VISA to France done yesterday.

Masi’s Fijian Drua teammate Selestino Ravutaumada is also expected to join the national 7s camp in Nadi tomorrow.

TimesSport has received confirmation that Ravutaumada will not be travelling with the Flying Fijians team to England to face the World Barbarians for the Killik Cup.

Baleimabuli has also confirmed France-based winger Josaia Raisuqe will join the team early next week.

The former Stade Francais winger is the only overseas-based player in the 20-member shadow team, which will be trimmed down to 13. The three players mentioned above are the only players apart from the seasonal squad to compete for a position in the final team.

Meanwhile, the men’s national 7s team will have four scrimmage sessions against Australia in Nadi next week.

The new additions to the squad will be given maximum game time to prove themselves for a spot in the final team.

The team leaves for France on July 1.
