The Labasa Primary Schools Sports Association Zone 1 commenced its first kick-off on Thursday.
Participating schools included Nagigi, Wavuwavu, Naleba, and Coqeloa.
The event’s chief guest was Captain Rainjesh Sen of Northern Air.
Parents turned out in large numbers to support the young stars of tomorrow.
A delightful scene to witness was grandmothers running from end to end, doing the helicopter dance with their sulus.
The tournament featured boys’ soccer, girls’ netball, and girls’ soccer.
Trophies were awarded to the winners and runners-up in various divisions.
“Extending our heartfelt thanks to all the teachers and heads of schools for their tremendous support.
To all the players, keep working hard, you are all equal in our eyes. Stay blessed,” said Rodney Raj of Naleba College, the hosts for the event.
