Swire Shipping Fijian Drua prop Emosi Tuqiri is confident that his team has prepared adequately to demonstrate their worthiness for a quarterfinal spot in their upcoming match against the Melbourne Rebels.
Speaking at Jasper Williams High School ahead of the crucial game, Tuqiri, from Namatakula, Nadroga, emphasized the team’s focus on dominating the breakdown and contact areas, acknowledging the challenge posed by the Rebels’ experienced Wallabies players.
“We have enough to show Fiji, why we should be in the finals, Rebels will be coming in with a lot of Wallabies in the team.
“The boys have prepared and we have enough to show Fiji why we should be in the final.
“Our focus is winning those collisions in the first phase, contact and breakdown first,” Tuqiri said.
Reflecting on the season, Tuqiri noted the personal and team challenges faced, particularly the importance of maintaining physical readiness and discipline whether selected to play or not.
He highlighted the significance of consistency, especially given their struggle to win away games.
“The challenge I face this week is staying focus and getting your bodies in right condition especially when you don’t get selected to play in a week its important to maintain discipline and stay focus.
“This season has been good and challenging, we didn’t win any away game so it’s important to be consistent for the future.”
