The pressure of playing in Suva as a professional player for the first time and to go up against international players like Suliasi Vunivalu were some of the mental battles that Fijian Drua winger Epeli Momo had to overcome.
Momo struggled for a while in the 28-19 win over Queensland yesterday and he admitted that is aware of his shortfalls.
“I have a lot to work on especially in that first half, I did not play the way I wanted to but the beauty of it is that I get another week to build and improve on my game,” the Ba native stated.
He revealed that there were a lot of factors that contributed to his overall performance.
“I think it’s the pressure of the game and having the crowd at the back of my mind.
“This is my first match here in Suva as a professional rugby player so the pressure was really on for me. This was coupled with the fact that my opposite partner was Suliasi Vunivalu and to be up against another Fijian is not an easy task,” he added.
Momo joined the Drua this season from French ProD2 club Montauban.
