Rewa Football Club secured a crucial victory against Solomon Warriors 3-2 win in their second Group B match of the OFC Champions League held in Tahiti yesterday.

The win sets the stage for an exciting conclusion to their group stage campaign as they aim to secure a spot in the semi-finals of the OFC Champions League.

Despite Solomon Warriors taking an early lead with captain Gagame Feni’s goal in the 15th minute, Rewa quickly regrouped. Captain Setareki Hughes led by example, netting the equalizer in the 39th minute.

Just before halftime, Samuela Kautoka extended Rewa’s lead with a well-taken goal, putting them ahead 2-1.

In the second half, Rewa maintained their intensity and dominated possession, resulting in Josaia Sela’s goal in the 69th minute.

Although Solomon Warriors responded with another goal from Feni in the 71st minute, Rewa’s defense, marshaled by Hughes, stood firm, securing the 3-2 victory at full time.

Unsurprisingly, Hughes was named the Player of the Match for his outstanding performance.

Rewa head coach Roderick Singh rated captain Hughes.

“Hughes is an outstanding leader, he played really well, and he knows how to manage the team on and off the field,” Singh said.

Singh was proud of his boys.

“It was not an easy match against Solomon Warriors but credit to the boys for their hard work.”

Rewa will take on Hekari FC in their final pool match and Singh has mentioned few positional changes.

“We look forward to that match and we will do some positional change and we know it will not be an easy match.”
