Twenty-two teams have been confirmed so far for the eighth Amazing Wheelbarrow Race scheduled to be held on July 20 at Albert Park in Suva.

The Frank Hilton Organization started the event in 2016 with 14 teams and it has since grown over the years with eight more registered for 2024

A total of 30 teams are targeted to take part with $300,000 aimed to be raised from the charity event.

Now known as ‘Bara Battle’, the event was officially launched at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva on Wednesday night.

“The inaugural race in 2016 was an opportunity for fundraising through the wheelbarrow race where approximately $50,000 with 14 teams participating,” board member Anne Dunn stated.

“Last year alone, we raised just a little above $250,000 with the physical race bringing in $171,000 and the virtual race with $81,000.”

Participants can either take part in the physical race, virtual race through their app or in both platforms.

Registration for the race is still open and prizes are up for grabs on the day.
