Maryann Macedru of St Joseph’s Secondary School created a new record after throwing a distance of 13.27m in the intermediate girl’s shot-put event and winning gold at the 2024 Coca-Cola games at the HFC Bank stadium in Suva.
The old record was 12.52m set in 2007 by Sereseini Savui of Adi Cakobau School.
Jane Mary Peters of MGM won silver with a distance of 10.87m and Adi Salote Serukalou of Ratu Sukuna Memorial School settled for bronze with a distance of 10.04m.
