A joint delegation of the Fiji Police Force and Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) departed Fiji as part of a surge deployment to the Solomon Islands to assist in the country’s general elections this week.
Twenty were from the Fiji Police Force and 80 from the RFMF.
The contingent was farewelled by Commander Joint Task Force Command Brigadier-General Manoa Gadai at the Blackrock Camp in Nadi last week.
A statement from the RFMF stated the contingent comprised of highly trained personnel to support the Solomon Islands International Assistance Force (SIAF).
“The deployment underscores Fiji’s commitment to regional cooperation and the maintenance of peace and security in the Pacific,” the RFMF said.
“The RFMF troops and FPF officers are well-equipped and prepared to collaborate with international partners to address challenges and contribute to the ongoing peace and stability operations in the Solomon Islands.”
