THE Northern economy is showing positive signs of growth with more business developments taking place this year.
Developments such as the extension of the Labasa Municipal Market, the newly-upgraded bus stand, the new Hotel North Pole and Hotel 88 are among other positive initiatives cited as a contributing factor to the positive growth.
Another latest development is a $4.5million investment spearheaded by Labasa business tycoon Bashir Khan who is working on a triple-storey shopping mall and a sawmill. The investment is expected to employ about 350 people before the end of this year.
Acting Commissioner Northern Alipate Bolalevu yesterday said while he was unaware of Mr Khan’s investment, signs of positive growth had been evident in Labasa.
