The Nakelo Treasure Island Resort & Spa located in the Mamanuca group released a green sea turtle back into the ocean on Saturday.
Named Sammy, the turtle was kept at the resorts’ turtle pond for about a month.
“We rehabilitate turtles that we find injured at sea or brought in by neighbouring resorts and once they are healthy and strong, they are released back at sea,” the resort stated in a social media post.
“Sammy is a green turtle who spent one month at our turtle sanctuary.
“He was found injured and was looked after at Nakelo Treasure Island by our amazing environment team.
“Sammy was declared healthy and stronger then ever and was released back to sea yesterday (Saturday).”
