CASTAWAY Island Fiji has announced the recognition of their general manager Steven Andrews as the General Manager of the Year.
Mr Andrew was awarded in the category of resorts and hotels at the Outrigger Way Awards in Hawaii last week.
In 2023, Castaway Island reached a new high under his leadership, marking a milestone in the resort’s multi-decade existence.
The resort achieved its highest financial performance in 2023 despite having renovation issues at the start of the year, surpassing EBITDA projections by more than 20 per cent.
Showcasing his extraordinary leadership abilities and business acumen, Mr Andrews’ strategic vision and efficient administration were crucial in guiding the property towards this outstanding accomplishment.
Castaway Island Resort manager Paula Vatunicoko says staff of the five-star property are thrilled to celebrate a well-deserved recognition.
“His exceptional leadership, dedication, and passion have been instrumental in driving our resort’s success and fostering a culture of excellence,” Mr Vatunicoko said.
“We congratulate Steven on this prestigious award and look forward to continued success under his guidance.”
Meanwhile, Mr Andrews said he was blessed to be part of the resort.
“This recognition is not mine alone but belongs to every member of the Castaway Vuvale.
I am incredibly blessed to be part of their team and it is with great pride that I share this accolade with them,” he said.
Mr Andrews also prioritises environmental, social, and governance (ESG) activities, which aligns the resort’s operations with sustainable practices and community engagement.
