Being bestowed the honours of leading 900 students this academic year is a challenge that comes with vast responsibilities for Lautoka Primary School head prefects Naval Kumar and Sofaia Nabuli.
The Year 8 students, who were selected head girl and head boy, believe they would carry out their responsibilities well with the assistance of 138 students leaders who were also badged in a function held at the Lautoka Girmit Centre.
For Kumar, who lives not too far from school, he believes the huge task of being a leader and with the support of his parents, have somewhat been a source of strength and inspiration for him to carry out his duties well.
“It’s an honour and a privilege to be head boy of the school this year,” the school head boy said.
“My parents always remind me to be honest and perform my duties well.”
Head girl and Bukuya, Ba lass Sofaia said her role was simply about leading by example and setting good examples to fellow students.
The duo believe the leadership role is also about ensuring they strike a balance between academic and leadership as they aspire to work towards their dreams of becoming medical professionals later in life.
