A 42-year-old man is the latest road fatality, bringing the national death toll to 10 compared with 16 for the same period last year. Navura Vonowale died on Monday in a case of drunk driving.

Director traffic, Senior Superintendent of Police Mitieli Divuana said despite the numerous warnings, drunk driving offences continued to be recorded.
Between December 15 last year and January 31 this year, 149 drunk driving arrests were made, a worrying figure considering the threats on everyone’s safety.
SSP Divuana has called on drivers to understand that their actions not only threatened their own safety, but of other innocent road users as well.
