Youngster Kalesi Keyasi holds a major role this season, leading the Nadroga women’s team as their captain in the ANZ Marama Championship.
Only 22 years of age and into her second year of rugby, the Semo, Tuva in Nadroga lass will steer her team towards their aim of finishing in the top four.
The lanky lock understands that it won’t be an easy task, but she is up for the challenge.
“We want to improve our performance this year, our aim is to reach the semi-finals. Last year we fell short, but we have regrouped and are ready for the new season,” she said.
“It will be tough for me because I’m young but I’m thankful to the girls for their support and trust in my ability to lead. It’s going to be a tough season too, we know Suva and Navosa are going to be hard to beat, Nasinu as well but we have no excuses. I believe the inclusion of Drua players Milinia Adita and Rapeka Mahi will boost the confidence of the girls.”
Nadroga faces Nasinu in it first match today, 11 am at Burhurst Park in Suva.
