Fiji Bati winger Semi Valemei welcomes the idea of playing in a different position for the Cowboys this NRL season.
The 24-year-old Vanua Levu man shared the intensity of pre-season training with the Cowboys as the 2024 NRL season set to begin in March.
While the long hours of running under the North Queensland heat is tough to bear, Valemei is relishing the opportunity of playing as a centre, outside of his usual position at the wing.
“I don’t really think about it too much. I came in this morning saw my name on the list at centre, I just thought I’d give it a shot and just make sure I do everything right for that position,” he stated.
This is not new for the former Raiders player who played in the centre position for the Bati during the 2022 Rugby League World Cup.
“I don’t really mind, wherever the coaching staff put me I just got to make sure that I do my best and do what the team expects me to do in that position.”
This will be Valemei’s second season with the Cowboys after an injury-plagued debut season with the Raiders.
His contract with Canberra was supposed to end this season but he was released early last year to join the Cowboys.
