Fiji’s “Wonder Boy” Roy Krishna has shown interest in joining the Auckland A-League team, a newly formed club in Auckland.

The New Zealand Herald reported star striker was keen to move back to New Zealand and be closer to family.

“When I heard there was a new club and from Auckland, wow,” Krishna told the Herald.

“New Zealand is very close to me and it’s a great opportunity to come back to the region, to play one more time for the people that followed me very closely.”

The Fiji men’s national football skipper has a record 51 goals for his former club the Wellington Pheonix, and says he is eager to join the new club even if it means playing against his former team.

“I would love to come back to the place where I started,” he said.

“I just want to play for the community, and I still have it in me to come back home and give something to the people and to the league as well, that was my first professional league.

“Fingers crossed I can but let’s see what the future holds.”

Krishna says though he may be catching up with age, he is still capable of performing on the football field.

The 37-year-old currently plays for Odisha in the Indian Super League.

“People think I’m very old but I am still playing every game, I’ve still got my speed, got more knowledge about football.”

Meanwhile, Krishna scored two goals for Odisha as the side beat Jamshedpur 4-1 on Friday.

Krishna scored twice, made an assist, completed 81 per cent of his passes, tackled thrice, and created three goal-scoring opportunities to give out another fantastic, comprehensive performance from the tip of the attack.
