Cruiserweight champion Alivereti Kauyaca will put his belt on the line against top contender Joseph Kwadjo during the Bluewater Boxing Promotion in Suva in March next year.

While launching his program yesterday, debut promoter Mohammed Samir Khan said fans had been calling for this fight and finally they would get to see it.

“It has been a while since boxing fans have been calling on these two boxers to face each other. We are happy that in our first promotion, we have managed to get them to fight,” Khan said.

Veteran Suva-based Kwadjo has 39 fights under his belt.

The 38-year-old has won 27 fights, 22 via knock outs, losing 12, but has been stopped only once.

In contrast, champion Kauyaca is undefeated in his 10 bouts so far.

He has won nine fights, seven by knockouts and has one draw. Kauyaca said Kwadjo would be a good test for him. “We all know how good Kwadjo is as he is a former champion.

He has been fighting some of the best and it is just the right time for us to test each other,” the man from Bukuya in the Nausori Highlands said.

The promotion will take place on March 2 at the FMF Gymnasium in Suva.

Nathan Singh will take on Mohammed Ali in the main supporting bout.

Other boxers who will feature on the night include Winston Hill, Isikeli Senidoko, Junior Binnu Singh and Paulo Ratumaikoro.

The complete drawcard is expected to be out early next month.
