Fiji’s boxing sensation Winston Hill is the new middleweight champion of Fiji after he stopped Jese Ravudi mid-way in the second round during the South Pacific Boxing Promotions event held in Nadi last night.
Winston landed a couple of powerful body shots, with Ravudi going down on the canvas after one minute and 32 seconds in round two, winning it via TKO.
Hill in his post match interview said he was disappointed with the fight ending earlier than expected.
“I did ask him to take me to deep waters but it didn’t happen,” he said.
Meanwhile, Fiji’s cruiserweight champion Alivereti Kauyaca won his fight against Indian boxer Kuldeep Singh in the International Cruiserweight bout via TKO.
Singh’s corner threw the towel before the start of the fifth round.
The most lively contest of the night that drew cheers from the crowd and applauded by many was between Shiva Mishra and Mohammed Ali in the 6×3 lightweight contest.
Both boxers were fired up and almost evenly matched throughout the six rounds, with non-stop action, however, it was Mishra who was declared the winner on points.
