A framework to better serve the multi-ethnic community is being compiled, says Multi-Ethnic Affairs Minister Charan Jeath Singh.
Mr Singh said this document was being put together by two experts from New Zealand who were not charging the Government any fees but keen to assist with the framework.
“One is Dr Rajendra Prasad, a former Race Relations Commissioner and former Labour MP in NZ while the other is a lawyer who will join us too for this work,” he said.
“They will work with our ministry and once completed we will submit it to the Prime Minister’s Office for endorsement.
“This framework will be passed by legislation and become a document that no other future governments can remove.”
Multi-Ethnic Ministry, he said was not only about donations to various communities but to serve the plights of various communities.
“Multi-Ethnic is about those from Rabi Island, Tuvaluans who live in Fiji and Fijians of Indian descent so we will ensure it’s inclusive,” Mr Singh said.
“Once that document comes out in the next few weeks, we will then submit it to our Government leader.” |
