The 2023 Fijian Cup International Rugby League tournament kicked off in style at Sigatoka’s Lawaqa Park yesterday.
This year’s tournament features 24 teams including 16 men’s and eight women’s teams. Seven international teams have made their way to Fiji for the event which boasts a prize purse of $50,000. Fiji National Rugby League CEO Don Natabe has applauded Tourism HQ for choosing Fiji as a sporting tour destination.
“We’d like to thank Mr Richard Henry at Tourism HQ for having the foresight to develop what will be the gateway for rugby league nines to earn its respect in international rugby league,” said natabe.

The tournament, wholly owned by Tourism HQ, launched its second year at the fabulous Fijian Resort on Yanuca island in Nadroga on Thursday with seven international teams arriving into Fiji. “We’re incredibly excited for the Fijian Cup Nines this year!!”
Tourism HQ CEO Rich Henry said. A good turnout was recorded one day one as fans came out in numbers to witness some electrifying rugby league action. National rugby league players, who recently took part at the Pacific Games, are also participating at the tournament in Sigatoka.
