The opening of Bred Bank in Labasa means better financing opportunities for the people of Vanua Levu, says Minister for Sugar Charan Jeath Singh.
In addressing guests at the opening of the $4 million complex and the first branch in the North, Mr Singh said the new branch was not merely a physical structure, but one that represented progress, development and inclusivity.
“It also provides a bigger and brighter future for economic developments in Vanua Levu let alone the creation of new employment,” he said.
“As you know, that one mandate of the Coalition Government was to create equal development opportunities for every citizen.
“And such investment by Bred Bank is a major boost for the economy here in the North. As a businessman himself, Mr Singh assured Bred Bank management that the shift to Labasa was a timely decision and a good one too.
“Some of the top bussiness are here with us this evening (opening night) and together we will support Bred Bank in every possible way as your partner in business,” he said.
“The new premises is a great addition and inspiration to the fresh phase of developments happening in Labasa.”
Bank’s chief executive officer Thierry Charras-Gillot said they have fulfilled the dreams of many people who reached out to Bred Bank to open a branch in the North.
“While the branch is in Labasa, the bank’s ‘Banking Without Distance’ strategy, keeps it connected to its customers in the best digitally and humanly manner possible,” he said.
