Fiji’s Winston Hill beat New Zealand’s Dylan Archer by knock out in the seventh round to win the PBC Oceania Regional Super Welterweight title in Nadi on Saturday night.

In an evening which didn’t disappoint the fans who turned up, Hill proved once again that the FMF Boxing Series has become his favourite hunting ground.

The main bout lived up to expectations as both boxers gave in their all. While Hill had the upper hand in most of the rounds, Archer did have Hill on the backfoot on a few occasions.

It was in the seventh round when Archer was floored with a strong right hook from Hill.

The New Zealand boxer did get up but Hill knew what was to be done and didn’t waste the opportunity.

Hill threw in a number of consecutive punches forcing the referee to stop the fight.

Hill said he would have loved the fight to last 10 rounds as he wanted to test himself.

He thanked everyone who supported him for the fight.

“This definitely goes a long way. A big shout out to Dylan, thank you for coming to Fiji. I hope that you are recovering well and on the mend before you get back home to your beautiful family. All the best with your training camp ahead and your future fights.”

Meanwhile, Jese Ravudi, who beat Ronald Naidu on a unanimous points decision to win the Welterweight title of Fiji, has challenged Hill.

“I want my title back. I do not want to fight in the main supporting bout as I want to fight in the main bout,” Ravudi said.

Hill beat Ravudi by TKO earlier this year to win the Super Welterweight title.
