Update: 1:29PM AN earthquake was recorded in the Lau Group earlier today.
The 5.0 magnitude earthquake was at a depth of 625.1 kilometres, 25.21 kilometres southwest of Mabula Village on Cicia Island in Lau and 216.16km east north-east of Suva.
In a statement, the Mineral Resources Department said the earthquake at 7:53am was moderate size with deep depth source location.
“However, there was no felt report from Cicia Island and nearby places as confirmed through telephone call,” the statement said.
