You are all welcome to return with your families to Fiji and renew your status.
Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka gave the assurance to the Fijian diaspora who were part of a business talanoa session hosted at the Fullerton Hotel in Sydney, Australia on Tuesday.
“You are all interested in what has happened back in Fiji since December last year,” Mr Rabuka told as many as 100 Fijians.
“Life is not too bad in Fiji, you are all welcome to return with your families, back to Fiji, renew your status.
“I’m here to reassure you. We want you to enjoy the hospitality of this great nation.
“We are so proud that you have all contributed to the well-being and welfare of this great country.”
Mr Rabuka said the announcement by the Foreign Affairs Minister of the return of Fijians to their homeland should be welcomed and would allow them to set up businesses and enjoy priceless moments with their families.
The Prime Minister said the Fijians were proud to have contributed to Australia and Australian lives for many years.
He said the Fijian Government would continue to cooperate with the rest of the world to try and work out solutions and bring positive results to its global efforts to make the world better and safer for future generations.
“I’m here to pay tribute to you, those who live in Australia and back in Fiji, those who employ Fijians, those who import from Fiji.
“Hopefully, you will help us improve our productivity, increase our GDP, improve imports and reduce the trade deficit.”
The Prime Minister and his team are on a week-long trip in the Land Down Under to hold talks with senior Australian government officials.
