LTA diverts manpower

OUT of the 48 road fatalities so far this year, 36 have been caused by speeding.

As a result, the Land Transport Authority has diverted most of its manpower and human resources towards the elimination of bad drivers on the roads.

Authority spokesman Iliesa Sokia said they would beef-up on advocacy and awareness, educational workshops, outreach programs, patrols and their presence on the road to name a few things.

“The stigma of being silent and keeping quiet while lives are under threat or compromised by reckless driving attitudes should be condemned in the strongest possible way,” Mr Sokia said.

“If you are in a speeding vehicle or if you come across one reckless driver on the road, shout out to him or her, yell or boo at them.

“The biggest help we can get to clamp down speeding drivers is simply doing the above and at the same time report the matter to us. Stop being silent, it’s time to speak out if you love and value your life and the lives of those in the vehicle.”
