THE Catholic Church in Fiji believes Christmas is a time to put Christ back into Christmas by sharing his love with one another.
The message was shared by Archbishop Father Peter Loy Chong as young Christians took to the Capital City on Saturday evening the joy of Christmas to the less fortunate.
At Suva’s Sacred Heart Cathedral, Roman Catholic children took part in carols and nativity plays in the open air in front of a manger being placed in front of the Sacred Heart Cathedral.
Catholic church communications officer Leca Vunibobo said for some years Christmas had been over commercialised and this took away its real meaning.
The cathedral, he said would observe this event every Christmas with the hope of telling the world that Christmas was all about Christ. Archbishop Chong said while the occasion was one for families to celebrate with their communities, it was also a time of sharing love especially with those who have nothing.
