FIJIAN young women and girl child have been reassured greater access to participation in decision making.
The reassurance was made by youth prime minister Paulini Turagabeci at the young Fijian leaders parliament forum in Suva yesterday.
Ms Turagabeci, a youth activist, said the appointment of Dr Jiko Luveni as the first female speaker of the Fijian Parliament led her to the issue she wished to address in Parliament — the development and empowerment of young women and the girl child.
“Our Government recognises the crucial roles that young women and the girl child play in the framework of society,” Ms Turagabeci said. “We will continue the efforts to ensure that young women and girls, including but not limited to lesbians, bisexuals, trans women, rural young women and young women and girls living with disabilities are able to complete their primary and secondary education with greater access to achieving tertiary education.”
