A tough battle is expected next week Tuesday as Adi Cakobau School Reds will be defending their title against Suva Grammar School in the finals of the Fiji Secondary Schools Women Under-19 Competition at Albert Park in Suva.
Tournament organiser Joeli Matayawa says they are expecting a tough battle between the two schools, as SGS will be looking to dethrone ACS Reds.
The two sides last met in the pool games, where SGS managed to defeat the champions and will be out to continue their undefeated run for this season.
“We are expecting a very tough battle between the two schools.
“SGS will be coming to the finals undefeated, while ASC Reds will be out to defend their status as champions.”
In the semifinals on Wednesday, ACS Reds defeated Tailevu North Secondary while SGS overcame a determined William Cross College side.
“Both teams have been performing well since the beginning of the tournament, and we are happy to see the growth among the players.
“Both teams will be out looking for the win with all the motivation to do so.
“SGS will be out to continue their winning streak while ACS Reds will be out to defend their title.”
Matayawa is calling out to all the supporters and families of the players of the respective teams to come out in numbers and cheer both teams on Tuesday.
“Please do come out in numbers and support our young women, and your respective schools.”
The final will kick off at 1pm at Albert Park on Tuesday.
