Expect cloudy and rainy conditions.
This, according to a special weather bulletin issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi.
The bulletin said a heavy rain alert remained in force for the whole of the Fiji Group, while an extensive area of cloud and rain associated with a trough of low pressure was expected to approach the group from the west yesterday.
Occasional rain, heavy at times and a few thunderstorms developing later in the day over most places were forecast.
With possibility of localised businesses likely to be affected, flash flooding of low-lying areas, localised flooding of Irish crossings and informal settlements, with some distribution to traffic flow and poor visibility on land, and at sea.
Lami resident Isireli Madigi Jr said while returning from a job site in Mamanuca’s on Friday night visibility was low as a result of the weather conditions.
“There was thick mist in areas along the Queens Rd and we had to reduce speed right down to 20 kilometres per hour at times because we could not see much further than the front of our vehicle,” he said.
Nausori resident Taina Ranadali said she and her family were closely following the weather reports in case of flash flooding in the area.
“There is a drain near my house that usually floods during heavy rains,” she said.
“It is often made worse by the rubbish that blocks the drain.”
