A career discovery team from the Fiji National University visited Nabala Secondary School, Macuata to talk about entry requirements, career pathways and programs offered by the various colleges and institutions at the university.

The visit on Wednesday allowed for Year 12 and 13 students to plan on a program they wished to study in tertiary.

Head girl and aspiring nurse, Salote Tuvou Sokoiwasa, said the session provided much-needed guidance to the senior students at the school as they prepared to take the next step in the journey towards their dream careers.

“I am confident that most of the students that were present at the session found the much-needed guidance for pursuing tertiary studies at FNU,” she said.

“We found out about the entry and subject requirements, which will be of great help to many of us who are dreaming of attending FNU soon.

“Most of our parents are either farmers, fishermen, or both, and we are hoping to improve our standard of living by pursuing further studies at FNU.”

As traditional custodians of the third longest barrier reef in the world “Bainivualiku” or the Great Sea Reef, many of the students also expressed their interest in marine sciences and nautical sciences.

Other schools in the North visited by the team included Guru Nanak Khalsa College and Bulileka Sanatan College.

The FNU teams on Taveuni also visited Niusawa Methodist High School and Bucalevu Secondary School.
