Welcoming a promising new chief executive officer and bidding farewell to one who leaves behind an impressive legacy, the Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation (FCEF) called a media conference this week to officially announce their new leadership, Jonetani Tonawai.

A press release announcing the appointment describes Mr Tonawai as an individual of exceptional calibre, bringing with him a wealth of experience and expertise from the banking and finance sector, where he has dedicated four decades of his career.

“His illustrious background includes significant roles at four prominent local banks, the Ministry of Finance, Fijian Holdings Ltd, and the Fiji National Provident Fund. Such an extensive and diverse career journey has equipped Mr Tonawai with valuable insights into various facets of the financial landscape.

“The FCEF family is thrilled to welcome Mr Jonetani Tonawai as our new CEO, and we are confident that his visionary leadership and strategic thinking will serve as catalysts for growth within the organization. With his guidance, we are excited to embark on a new season of rebranding, building upon the solid foundation that FCEF has already established,” it stated.

The organisation extended its deep gratitude to Kameli Batiweti, currently in the role of CEO, for his dedicated service and leadership during his tenure. Under his guidance, FCEF has achieved significant milestones, and the organisation wishes him all the best in his future endeavours.

Mr Tonawai will officially take up the role of FCEF chief executive officer on Friday, July 28, 2023.
