The wet and chilly Sunday failed to deter the spirits of Fijians as they flocked in numbers to enjoy the entertainment, and variety of food and purchase other goods from the monthly Garden City Market Day in Raiwaqa.
Business owners were impressed with the high turn out yesterday despite the unfavorable weather most of them experienced good sales. Retired teacher Ms Savita Nair, who sells tailored pillowcases, door mats, cushions, and bags, said she sold most of her products.
Initially, she was skeptical of operating her stall, but because she already paid for the space, she had to fight the cold to continue her business.
She has been part of the market for two years and she said the crowd yesterday was great.
Callan Wallace of Rolling Rock hot sauce said the market day was a perfect opportunity for small and medium enterprises to showcase their produce and market themselves.
Mr Wallace and his wife travelled from their home in Volivoli, Rakiraki to sell their unique variety of hot sauces.
“This kind of market-day gives us the opportunity to interact with customers, their feedback is important, and we also get a chance to market our products,” he said.
