Suva Nasinu Secondary Schools Netball president Salanieta Lavo says she is pleased to see a large number of new schools participate in the competition yesterday.
Lavo said there were a handful of new schools such as Jeremiah College and Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School to name a few that has joined the competition this year.
“This is just the first day of the competition, and we are very happy to see that a lot of new schools have joined.
Competition is scheduled to be held every Wednesday, but will be postponed next week as school will have their mid-term examination.
Lavo said the inclusion of new schools showed that netball was still growing in the country.
“This shows us that there are many potential young players out there who are interested in playing netball, and these types of tournaments will help discover these talented players.
“We hope that some of these teams will make it to the national games. This is one of our goals.”
