Home Affairs and Immigration Minister Pio Tikoduadua says the Government is committed to work closely with the private sector to develop robust cybersecurity frameworks, establish effective information-sharing mechanisms and promote the adoption of industry best practices.
In officiating at the opening of the VirtualFlex Innovate 2023 conference, the minister shared the Government’s recognition of the importance of forging strong partnerships with the private sector to drive innovation, ensure cyber resilience and enhance the overall security of our digital ecosystem.
“The Fiji Government recognises that secured digital transformation is a collaborative effort that requires the active participation of both the public and private sectors,” Mr Tikoduadua said.
“To achieve this, we are committed to creating an enabling environment that fosters collaboration and co-operation between the Government and private entities.
“We recognise that the private sector brings invaluable expertise, resources, and innovative solutions to the table.”
Through public-private partnerships, Mr Tikoduadua reiterated the region can pool its strengths and leverage collective knowledge to address the complex challenges posed by the digital landscape.
He said Government was keen on supporting the private sector in its endeavors to enhance cybersecurity.
This commitment, Mr Tikoduadua said would include investing in capacity-building programs and providing training and education opportunities to promote a culture of cyber awareness and resilience.
“Additionally, we will streamline regulatory processes, creating a conducive environment for businesses to thrive while upholding the highest standards of data protection and privacy.
“By working hand in hand with the private sector, we can develop innovative solutions that address emerging threats and safeguard critical infrastructure.
