A $30,000 gown closed Fiji Fashion Week 2023 at the Vodafone Arena in Laucala Bay, Suva on Saturday, June 3.
The Spirit of Ecstasy is a couture gown designed by Sydney-based Australian designer Daniel Avakian in a collaboration with Rolls Royce for their clients in 2021.
In a video on Mr Avakian’s website he describes the methods of designing and making the dress, which included traditional sketching and hyper realistic avatars for the virtual design process.
He said the use of silk gazar, a fabric used in haute couture, enabled him to create strong lines and a dramatic silhouette that was elegant and captured the essence of the Spirit of Ecstasy – the bonnet sculpture on every Rolls Royce car.
He also said the most identifiable synergy between his label, Daniel Avakian, and Rolls Royce was the desire to create unique and individualised pieces for discerning individuals.
Model Josie Mafi walked the $30,000 gown down the runway at the Resort Luxe show on Saturday.
