Police is investigating the discovery of a body allegedly trapped underneath the ramp of an interisland vessel at Ellington Wharf in Rakiraki yesterday.

Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro confirmed the body was discovered during low tide.

She said the deceased was 27 and part of the crew onboard the interisland vessel.

His body was discovered during low tide, trapped underneath the ramp, and the cause of death is still unclear.

The owner of the interisland vessel said he would allow police to conduct their investigations before making any comments.

The interisland vessel services the Ellington-Nabouwalu route and was in berthed at Ellington wharf at the time of the incident.
